Goshen looks for individuals that are caring, and supportive and who have extra room available in their homes. It is preferred that the Shared Living provider have some experience with individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities and foster care, but it is not a requirement. Applicants with backgrounds in human services, medical services, education, or counseling usually make great Shared Living providers.
Our goal is to create the best match possible between the subcontractor and the person desiring support. Contractors must agree to a 12-month contract with the individual. However, it is hoped that the relationship will last much longer. Goshen ensures that the Shared Living provider meets all regulatory requirements, and provides training to provide quality services and supports.
